iSTEAM LAB

In 2016, Bing Wong embraced the district’s call to engage all students in career pathways by creating its iSTEAM Lab to allow students to learn through hands-on, standards-based activities in digital design and manufacturing careers. We launched Bing Wong Industries, our e-commerce website where 3rd-6th grade students learn entrepreneurship skills as they design and maintain the website, manufacture products, write product descriptions, and use their product photography skills to sell items online. We recognize the responsibility of entrepreneurs to give back to the community that supports them so Bing Wong scholars have incorporated this into their business model. Since its inception, the business has been able to donate $1,100.00 to the Arrowhead United Way with the profits from our December 2 Memorial Luminaries!

iCARE Lab

Recently the Making Hope Happen Foundation with the help of Beverly Rainbolt contributed $50,000.00 to help establish the iCARE Lab, coming in 2017-2018. For three years, Bing Wong teachers and leaders have been collaborating with Curtis Middle School and Indian Springs High School to create a K-12 career pathway pipeline in the area of Healthcare. Within the Healthcare pathway, our cluster of schools exposes students to careers in Patient Care, Biotechnology, and Community and Public Health. The iCARE Lab is Phase III of our career simulation center and will allow students to become better readers, writers, mathematicians, communicators and problems solvers all while exposing them to careers in health and medicine.
