Our School

It is my pleasure to welcome you and introduce you to our school.

Bing Wong Elementary School makes hope happen for San Bernardino youth by providing exceptional educational experiences that focus on the Common Core State Standards and 21st Century Learning Skills all through the lens of Career Exploration.

Bing Wong is one of 49 elementary schools within the San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD). In addition to its specific campus focus, Bing Wong aligns it activities with the mission of SBCUSD, the leading expert in human learning, which ensures all students, cradle to career, develop the knowledge, skills and proficiencies required for college, career, civic and economic success by inspiring and engaging them in a system distinguished by:

  • High expectations for student and staff performance
  • Vital partnerships with families, community and employers
  • Culturally proficient schools
  • Learning experiences beyond traditional boundaries of where and when
  • Safe, respectful and welcoming environments

Bing Wong Elementary School serves over 700 students attending preschool through sixth grades. The school welcomes mainstream, dual immersion and special education students providing each with high quality instruction in Common Core State Standards and 21st Century Skills (Communication, Collaboration, Creativity and Critical Thinking). Each day, nearly 70 staff members support the work of educating kids who attend the school in 30 classrooms. All of our students are directly involved in the school’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) programs and Career Exploration programs.

For three years, Bing Wong teachers and leaders have been collaborating with Curtis Middle School and Indian Springs High School to create a K-12 career pathway pipeline in the fields of Engineering, Design, Machining and Manufacturing and Healthcare. Within the Healthcare pathway, this cluster of schools exposes students to careers in Patient Care, Biotechnology, Community and Public Health.

In addition to academic instruction, the school emphasizes character education teaching students the value of community service, personal and civic responsibility. In accordance with a district wide focus, the staff implements an evidence-based PBiS (Positive Behavior Interactions and Supports) system to consistently reinforcing good manners and respectful interactions among students.

Beyond the school day, Bing Wong hosts engaging before and after school programs that provide students with academic and recreational activities from 7:15am to 6pm daily.

Bing Wong Elementary School has made a concerted effort to embrace engagement through career exploration with a focus on academic standards. The exploration of careers allows students to envision a more prosperous future which helps to develop high levels of hope. Through the Career Simulation Center, students are not only able to learn skills, but they gain confidence in the idea that they can succeed in a high paying career. We would not be able to do this work without the support of our school adopter, Garner Holt Productions and the many community partners we have.
